Hands Across The Border
The Desert Museum partners with Hands Across the Border to provide school groups with bilingual education programs. In order to be eligible for this free program, groups must include students and chaperones from both Mexico and Arizona, and be members of Hands Across the Border. To find out how your school can join Hands Across the Border, see the Hands Across the Border website or e-mail Alicia.bristow@handsacrosstheborder.org.
Eligible groups receive al package of pre- and post-visit materials, a tour of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and a bilingual class taught by ASDM Education staff -- all free of charge.
Our classes include the following elements:
- Hands-on/Minds-on Activities
- Experiential Learning
- Live Animals & Museum Artifacts
- Arizona Academic Standards in Science
- The Sonoran Desert as a model for teaching life and earth science
- Respect for the unique natural resources and rich cultural diversity of our Sonoran Desert region
